Job Title: Process Operator – Packing Area

Abbott is seeking a skilled Process Operator to ensure compliance with manufacturing schedules, operate automated equipment, and maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, and safety in the packing area. The role involves troubleshooting, process optimization, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).


Primary Objective

  • Comply with manufacturing schedules and operate the plant with quality and safety compliance.
  • Build and foster a collaborative work environment across teams.
  • Assume responsibility for improving process efficiency and product quality.

Major Responsibilities

Plant Operations and Compliance

  • Operate and maintain automated process equipment in the packing area.
  • Document operations on an hourly basis and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow policies, work instructions, and approved SOPs to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain hygiene and GMP standards for the work area and machinery.

Quality and Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure delivery of batches aligned with upstream process requirements to meet customer deadlines.
  • Contribute to the improvement of packaging operations and ensure food safety compliance.

Team Coordination and Communication

  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues across teams.
  • Provide feedback and solutions to enhance team efficiency and product quality.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • Consistently follow all EHS rules, procedures, and wear required PPE.
  • Immediately report any EHS incidents or near misses.
  • Attend mandatory safety training and medical surveillance programs.
  • Conduct STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) observations and take leadership in maintaining safety standards.

Process Optimization

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy and water use, and minimize waste generation in work areas.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to optimize process efficiency and meet quality standards.

Education and Background

Qualifications

  • Diploma or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Production Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in dairy, food, pharmaceutical, or chemical plants.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with food packaging machinery.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and food safety compliance.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork and issue resolution.
  • Technical knowledge of equipment operations and adherence to approved SOPs.
