EHS Manager – Contractor Safety Management

In this crucial role, you will lead the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at our Breda site with a special focus on contractor safety. You will manage and continuously improve safety programs, ensuring compliance with Dutch and EU regulations, and enhancing Amgen’s safety culture. Your expertise will help drive operational excellence in all contracted activities while safeguarding the health and safety of all employees and contractors at the site.

As a strategic leader, you will work closely with internal teams and third-party service providers to ensure safe operations, manage risks, and ensure Amgen's EHS standards are upheld. You will also represent Amgen in external industry organizations and corporate EHS networks.


What You Will Do:

  • Act as the subject matter expert on Dutch/EU regulatory requirements, Amgen corporate standards, and industry best practices to maintain full EHS compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and improve contractor safety management programs; conduct risk assessments, audits, and compliance inspections.
  • Collaborate with Facilities & Engineering and third-party providers (ISPs) to ensure safe outsourced activities.
  • Monitor compliance with safety protocols and update training programs as needed.
  • Represent Amgen Breda in corporate EHS networks and contribute to Amgen's external reputation for safety excellence.
  • Foster an inclusive safety culture across all levels of the organization by coaching and developing internal stakeholders.

What We Expect of You:

We are looking for an EHS professional with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, engineering, quality, or EHS.
  • Certified as MoSHE or HVK.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS program management, ideally within biotech, pharmaceutical, or high-tech industries.
  • Proficiency in digital tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet) to manage and report EHS data.
  • In-depth knowledge of Dutch and EU regulatory guidelines with experience in tailoring EHS systems for biotech or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Proven ability to develop programs that optimize safety, mitigate risks, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong skills in strategic thinking, project management, and relationship-building to manage change and influence diverse stakeholders.
