Job Overview:

The DSP Scientist will focus on protein expression and purification, handling projects across both bacterial and mammalian systems. The role will involve a variety of laboratory techniques including protein expression, purification, and analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects while ensuring adherence to Syngene’s safety and quality standards.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Protein Expression & Purification:
    • Execute protein expression and purification from bacterial and mammalian systems.
    • Purification techniques include Affinity chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, and size-exclusion chromatography.
    • Protein analysis via SDS-PAGE and Western blot.
    • Expertise in protein refolding from inclusion bodies.
  • Project Execution:
    • Handle inventory management for assigned projects.
    • Perform upstream and downstream processes including cell culture maintenance, transfection, optimization, and protein purification for large and small-scale batches (up to 20 L).
    • Maintain experimental data in the electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a culture of safety and quality standards.
    • Engage in data-driven decision-making and influence the selection of molecules for further development.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Adhere to Syngene’s safety guidelines and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
    • Ensure that all team members complete mandatory safety and data integrity training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • MSc, M. Pharma, or M. Tech in a relevant field.
  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of experience in protein expression and purification, especially with bacterial and mammalian systems.
    • Experience with purification systems (e.g., AKTA) and methods such as SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of protein expression and purification techniques.
  • Proficient with upstream and downstream processes in both bacterial and mammalian systems.
  • Expertise in chromatographic modes of purification and protein analysis.
  • Ability to handle multi-step protein purification within set timelines.

Behavioral/Managerial Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of interacting with senior management professionally.
