Job Purpose

The Digital Pathology Image Analyst will utilize advanced image analysis and bioinformatics methods to understand the mechanism of action (MoA) and identify novel tissue-based biomarkers in cancer research, collaborating with pathologists, biologists, and other bioinformaticians.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Algorithm Design & Image Analysis:

    • Develop algorithms for digital pathology analysis using software such as HALO, Visiopharm, Definiens, Inform, and/or Aperio Image Analysis.
    • Quantify IHC staining expression, classify tumor/stroma, and extract cellular features.
  2. Data Analysis & Visualization:

    • Perform statistical analyses and data visualization using packages such as R, Python, and/or MATLAB.
  3. Documentation & Reporting:

    • Document projects, algorithms, and results with attention to regulatory standards.
    • Proofread and record results in detail to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  4. Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with pathologists, biologists, and fellow image analysts to support project goals related to target identification and patient selection for cancer therapies.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in Pharma, Biotech, or R&D settings.

Technical/Functional Skills

  1. Digital Pathology Software Expertise:

    • Experience with digital pathology software such as HALO, Visiopharm, Definiens, Inform, and/or Aperio Image Analysis.
  2. Programming & Data Analysis Skills:

    • Proficiency in programming and using analytical packages like R, Python, and/or MATLAB for statistical analysis and data visualization.
  3. Digital Imaging & Staining Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of digital imaging scanners and experience with chromogen and fluorescent staining methods.
  4. Image Analysis Algorithm Development:

    • Experience in developing algorithms for tumor, stroma, and cell type feature extraction through stains and morphometric features.
