Diagnostic Liaison, Oncology

Location: Greater Toronto Area or Montreal
Reports to: Medical Director, Oncology


What You Will Do

Let’s change the world together. In this key role, you will develop and support the medical strategy for biomarkers and diagnostics (Dx) within Amgen's Canada portfolio. By collaborating with internal and external partners, you'll help advance the integration of biomarker-driven therapies in Canada.

  • Develop and maintain expertise in biomarkers and diagnostics, including testing methodologies, clinical utility, and interpretation.
  • Support the medical strategy for biomarkers and diagnostics in Canada, working closely with both Canadian and Global medical affairs teams.
  • Identify barriers and propose solutions to facilitate the routine adoption of clinically actionable biomarkers and ensure timely reimbursement for diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure testing availability at launch for targeted therapies and pipeline assets across Canada.
  • Build relationships with Pathology KOLs (pathologists, lab directors, and lab staff) to foster scientific knowledge and insights.
  • Plan and execute advisory boards, educational programs, and other scientific meetings focused on biomarkers and diagnostics.
  • Represent Amgen at major Canadian and international congresses related to biomarkers and diagnostics.
  • Provide input on investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and research proposals related to biomarkers in Canada.
  • Work with professional societies and advocacy groups to enhance biomarker education and awareness.
  • Travel ~50% of the time.

What We Expect of You

We are looking for a dedicated and self-driven scientific professional with the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • MD, DO, PhD, or PharmD degree and 2+ years of industry experience, OR
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in medical science or the industry.
  • Bilingual (French/English).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genomics, Oncology).
  • Experience in clinical biomarker development and companion diagnostics, with knowledge of testing methods like IHC, NGS, PCR, and FLOW.
  • Deep understanding of pathology laboratory workflow in both academic/community institutions and reference labs.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, including KOLs, lab directors, and advocacy groups.
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory guidelines and practices.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical and Laboratory Practices and relevant regulations.
  • Expertise in pharmaceutical product development and commercialization processes.
  • Strong scientific judgment, problem-solving abilities, and independent work skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
