Position Overview

As the Oncology-Solid Tumors Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader at Roche/Genentech, you will lead the strategy and execution of clinical operations for the Oncology-Solid Tumors portfolio. This high-impact leadership position requires you to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of clinical trials while managing risks and optimizing operational processes.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Refine Oncology-Solid Tumors Portfolio Strategy

    • Lead the overall clinical operations strategy for the Oncology-Solid Tumors portfolio.

    • Continuously adapt strategies to stay aligned with the Clinical Development Plan (CDP) and One Pharma Strategy.

  2. Portfolio Oversight and Risk Management

    • Oversee asset and study delivery, ensuring awareness of portfolio status.

    • Identify risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies to ensure trial success.

  3. Strategic Stakeholder Alignment and Decision-Making

    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (PDG, APO, COEs, etc.) to drive alignment.

    • Act as a key decision-maker for prioritizing operational strategies for Oncology-Solid Tumors.

  4. Operational Leadership and Process Innovation

    • Utilize data analytics and portfolio optimization to enhance speed, quality, and cost management.

    • Foster innovation to improve technical success and ensure patient-centered research.

  5. Representation and Enterprise Influence

    • Serve as the operational leader for Oncology-Solid Tumors within Roche.

    • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including health authorities and advocacy groups.

  6. Leadership and Talent Development

    • Lead a team of 150 employees, including 10-12 direct reports.

    • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).

  7. Collective Leadership with an Enterprise Perspective

    • Represent Oncology-Solid Tumors within the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team.

    • Align the PDG and PD organizational priorities in service of patients and Roche’s broader mission.

  8. People Management and Administrative Responsibilities

    • Manage team performance through feedback, coaching, and development planning.

    • Handle administrative tasks, including performance reviews and HR-related processes.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience:

    • 15+ years in pharmaceutical clinical operations, with at least 10 years in global clinical operations strategy leadership.

    • Experience in managing large, matrixed organizations and fostering collaboration.

  • Expertise in Oncology-Solid Tumors:

    • In-depth knowledge of Oncology-Solid Tumors, with experience in large endpoint-driven clinical trials.

  • Clinical Development Knowledge:

    • Extensive experience in global clinical development, particularly in international settings.

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Proven track record of data-driven decision-making and expanding access to underserved populations.

  • Fluency in English:

    • Additional language skills are an asset.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (California location): $227,600 - $422,600 (based on experience and qualifications).

  • Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
