Position Overview
ICON plc is hiring a Clinical Data Science Lead to drive advanced data science initiatives across global clinical trials. This leadership role is responsible for designing analytical strategies, overseeing statistical modeling, and translating complex clinical data into actionable insights that inform development and regulatory decisions.

The position is office-based with flexibility across Chennai, Trivandrum, or Bangalore, India, and requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Data Management, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs teams.

Experience Required
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in clinical data analysis, biostatistics, or data science within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry, including demonstrated project leadership and team management experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of clinical data science strategies to enhance trial analytics and decision-making.

  • Design and oversee statistical models, predictive analytics, and advanced data interpretation methodologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define data requirements, endpoints, and analytical frameworks.

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with ICH-GCP and regulatory standards.

  • Mentor and guide data scientists and analysts in best practices for statistical programming, modeling, and visualization.

  • Present complex analytical findings to senior leadership and global stakeholders to influence clinical development strategies.

  • Drive innovation in analytics, including automation, visualization dashboards, and data optimization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Life Sciences, or related discipline.

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in clinical data science or biostatistics within a regulated clinical research environment.

  • Strong proficiency in statistical programming tools such as SAS, R, Python, or similar platforms.

  • Expertise in clinical trial data structures, CDISC standards, and regulatory submission datasets.

  • Proven leadership capability managing cross-functional teams and complex data-driven projects.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
