Role Overview:

The Clinical Application Specialist, a key member of our team, is an experienced ophthalmic technician and clinical educator. This role involves frequent travel and interaction with internal and external customers, including physicians, practice personnel, and internal sales and support teams. The specialist is responsible for the proper installation, training, and support of Visionix and Optovue products, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Support: Assist customers in the proper use of Visionix and Optovue products, including diagnostic and imaging equipment.
  • Installation & Training: Install and train staff on various product lines, including Visionix Diagnostic Products and the current Optovue Product Line. This includes networking equipment and setting up ReVue Stations.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide troubleshooting during installation and setup, and support the sales team with clinical issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete training paperwork and reports promptly, and communicate any device issues or improvements to the Director.
  • Adverse Event Reporting: Identify and report any adverse events or device deficiencies.
  • Training Development: Assist in creating training materials and support trade shows as needed.
  • Customer Interaction: Maintain a professional appearance, provide ongoing customer support, and suggest additional services or products.

Requirements:

  • Education & Certification: Associate degree or equivalent clinical experience, with JCAHPO - COA certification level or higher.
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of technical clinical experience in optometry or ophthalmology, and 2+ years as an ophthalmic Clinical Applications Specialist.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of eye physiology, anatomy, and OCT; proficiency in Microsoft Windows; and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Travel: Ability to travel extensively (100% of the time) within the US, including some weekends.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds and complete all physical aspects of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Special Demands:

The candidate must be comfortable working in both office and remote environments, capable of performing duties such as standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers for operating equipment.
