About the Role
Senior Scientific Manager - Medical Communications

This role is remote (preferably based in the Northeastern US), and as a Senior Scientific Manager (SSM), you will lead medical communications and publications efforts, overseeing the development and execution of high-quality deliverables. You will play a key leadership role in ensuring client satisfaction, content excellence, and team management across medical communications projects.
Key Responsibilities
Content Oversight and Quality Control (50%)
Lead content development, ensuring scientific rigor and alignment with project goals.
Ensure the highest level of scientific accuracy in all content (e.g., study data, market research, competitor analysis).
Provide editorial oversight, including reviewing documents for content clarity, structure, and technical accuracy.
Management and Mentorship (25%)
Oversee scientific staff and writers, ensuring successful project execution and high-quality deliverables.
Contribute to project specifications, timelines, and resource allocations.
Ensure the adherence to high-quality content standards and efficient team performance.
Scientific and Medical Insight Support (25%)
Serve as the “strategic bridge” between client product plans and deliverables.
Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with experts and stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in partnership with the account manager.
What You Need to Have
Advanced degree (PhD preferred).
5-7 years’ experience in high-level content development and management in medical communications, including at least 3 years as a Scientific Director.
Experience in client-facing roles and proven client relationship management.
Certification in CMPP™/MAPPS preferred.
Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage high-performance teams.
Familiarity with industry resources such as PubMed/Medline, clinicaltrials.gov, and market intelligence tools.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, such as editorial, graphics, and digital services.
