Position Overview

Lilly is seeking a Veterinary Technician (Associate level) to join the Department of Nonclinical Safety Assessment, part of the Division of Veterinary Resources. This role involves providing healthcare to laboratory animals, supporting research teams, and maintaining the highest standards of animal well-being.

This position plays a critical role in internal in vivo research by ensuring proper animal care, supporting research protocols, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of preventive health programs for laboratory animals.

  • Triage and evaluate common rodent disease conditions; provide emergency care when needed.

  • Consult with veterinarians and research personnel on treatment options.

  • Administer clinical treatments, collect diagnostic/environmental samples, and perform euthanasia when required.

  • Ensure compliance with departmental, institutional, local, state, and federal regulations, including AAALAC accreditation standards.

  • Maintain accurate animal health records and ensure data integrity.

  • Manage inventory of veterinary supplies and medications.

  • Provide training to research personnel on animal care procedures.

  • Work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Veterinary Technician license required (RVT, LVT, CVT, or equivalent).


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • AALAS Certification (LAT or LATG) or willingness to obtain.

  • Experience working with rodent species.

  • Familiarity with SOPs and protocol implementation.

  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable to complex environments.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated Salary: $65,250 – $148,500 (depending on experience and location).
