Role Summary
The Associate Content Editor will join the Abstraction Team under IP Operations and contribute to Derwent products by analyzing patents and preparing high-quality technical abstracts.
The role involves:
Patent analysis
Technical content summarization
Editorial enhancement
Patent data curation
Quality-focused content production
This opportunity is ideal for candidates from Life Sciences and Biotechnology backgrounds with strong scientific understanding and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patent Abstraction & Content Preparation
Prepare patent abstracts according to:
DWPI Abstracting Policy guidelines
Generate accurate technical summaries from patent documents
2. Patent Analysis
Analyze patents to identify and summarize:
Descriptive titles
Novel features
Uses and applications
Advantages of inventions
Important technical information
3. Production & Quality Management
Achieve assigned:
Production targets
Quality standards
Maintain accuracy and consistency in editorial work
4. Technology & Research Awareness
Stay updated with:
Current scientific developments
Technology trends within the biotechnology and life sciences domain
5. Learning & Development
Identify training and development needs
Participate in continuous skill enhancement activities
6. Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties assigned by the reporting manager on a permanent or temporary basis
Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
M.Sc. in:
Biotechnology
Microbiology
Genetics
OR M.Tech in Biotechnology
Experience
Freshers preferred
OR
Candidates with up to 1 year of experience in:
Content editing
Patent abstraction
Related scientific profiles
Technical Knowledge
Strong domain knowledge in Life Sciences and Biotechnology
Computer Skills
Proficiency in:
MS Office applications
Communication Skills
