Associate Scientist – Translational Medicine

Role Summary

The Associate Scientist will support Translational Medicine programs by conducting preclinical and laboratory-based studies to advance drug development strategies across Immunology, Oncology, and Hematology-Oncology therapeutic areas. The role focuses on generating translational data to support biomarker development, patient selection strategies, dose optimization, combination therapies, resistance mechanisms, and differentiation of investigational compounds from standard-of-care treatments.


Key Responsibilities

Translational Research & Drug Development

  • Conduct preclinical experiments supporting translational medicine objectives for late-stage drug development programs.

  • Generate scientific data to support translational strategies and asset development plans.

  • Contribute to mechanism-of-action studies and therapeutic differentiation strategies.

  • Support lifecycle management initiatives including new indications and combination therapy approaches.

  • Participate in internal and external collaborative research programs.

Experimental Design & Data Generation

  • Assist in the design, execution, and interpretation of laboratory experiments.

  • Generate high-quality scientific data supporting:

    • Biomarker identification and validation

    • Patient selection hypotheses

    • Dose and schedule optimization

    • Combination therapy strategies

    • Resistance mechanism investigations

    • Compound differentiation studies

  • Collaborate with Translational Medicine scientists to achieve project objectives.

Laboratory Research Activities

  • Perform cell-based and molecular biology experiments.

  • Conduct cell culture and primary cell isolation procedures.

  • Execute gene-editing workflows including:

    • CRISPR

    • siRNA

    • TALEN

    • HDR-based technologies

  • Support single-cell cloning and cellular engineering activities.

  • Perform protein and biomarker analyses using various immunological techniques.

Molecular & Cellular Biology

  • Conduct gene expression studies using:

    • qRT-PCR

    • RNA Sequencing (RNA-Seq)

  • Support epigenetic and genomic analyses including:

    • Methylation studies

    • Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP)

  • Analyze biological pathways and molecular responses relevant to therapeutic targets.

Immunology & Biomarker Analysis

  • Perform immunological and protein analysis assays including:

    • ELISA

    • MSD

    • Luminex

    • CBA

    • TSA

    • Flow Cytometry

  • Conduct cell phenotyping and biomarker characterization studies.

  • Support translational biomarker development and validation programs.

In Vivo Pharmacology

  • Design, establish, and execute in vivo pharmacology studies.

  • Support autoimmune disease models.

  • Conduct solid tumor oncology and heme-oncology pharmacology studies.

  • Analyze pharmacodynamic and efficacy endpoints.

  • Support translational interpretation of animal model data.

Documentation & Regulatory Support

  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and scientific records.

  • Prepare scientific reports and presentations.

  • Document experimental findings in nonclinical pharmacology study reports.

  • Support data generation for regulatory filings and submissions.

  • Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and SOPs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Translational Medicine scientists and disease area leaders.

  • Support seamless transfer of assets entering translational development.

  • Interact with early development and therapeutic research teams.

  • Present findings and scientific updates to internal stakeholders.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree (M.Sc., M.Tech., MS or equivalent) in:

    • Biotechnology

    • Life Sciences

    • Molecular Biology

    • Immunology

    • Pharmacology

    • Biochemistry

    • Biomedical Sciences

    • Related Scientific Discipline

Experience

  • Relevant laboratory and research experience in:

    • Immunology

    • Oncology

    • Hematology-Oncology

  • Industry experience preferred.

  • Experience supporting translational or preclinical research programs is advantageous.
