Role Overview

As an Associate Scientist I, you will support the scientific excellence of Baxter’s Extractables & Leachables (E&L) team based in Ahmedabad R&D. Using advanced analytical techniques (LC-MS, GC-MS, GC, UV, LC, IC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES), you will investigate and solve complex analytical challenges, including structure elucidation. You will collaborate with global experts and contribute to sustaining current products, developing new ones, supporting investigations, and driving innovation.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Scientific Contributions

  • Design, prepare, analyze, and interpret Extractables & Leachables studies conducted internally and at CROs.

  • Author experimental protocols, technical reports, and documentation in English independently or under guidance.

  • Ensure high-quality, scientifically sound technical outputs aligned with business objectives.

  • Interpret complex chromatographic and spectroscopic data and present findings to diverse audiences.

  • Contribute to long-term scientific strategies and innovation initiatives.

Laboratory & Equipment Management

  • Support the build-out and continuous development of the R&D E&L laboratory.

  • Ensure laboratory instrumentation is qualified, maintained, and aligned with business needs.

  • Operate and troubleshoot chromatographic and spectroscopic instruments effectively.

Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain compliance with Quality System Regulations, GMP, and other regulatory requirements related to R&D.

  • Embed a quality culture in laboratory operations and team activities.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and global subject matter experts to solve complex problems.

  • Track and monitor external regulatory environments related to Extractables & Leachables, Elemental Impurities, and Structure Elucidation.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.


Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry OR

  • Ph.D. in a chemistry-related field

Experience

  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in analytical development and validation.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: LC-MS, HRMS, GC-MS, or ICP-MS.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex chromatographic and spectroscopic data.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and operating analytical instruments.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills in English (oral and written).

  • Knowledge of GMP and regulatory guidelines.

  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems innovatively.

  • Leadership, project management, and strategic thinking abilities are preferred.
