Role Overview

As an Associate Scientific Editor, you will join a dynamic team at iScience to curate, review, and manage the publication of neuroscience and cell biology research. This role is ideal for scientists who are passionate about accurate scientific communication, enjoy critical evaluation, and want to contribute to an interdisciplinary editorial environment.

You will work closely with authors, reviewers, academic editors, and internal teams to shape the direction and quality of published research, supporting both the authors and the global scientific community.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate submitted manuscripts for novelty, scientific rigor, and relevance.

  • Oversee and manage the peer review process for new submissions and transferred manuscripts.

  • Build and maintain relationships with researchers and academic communities.

  • Identify and recruit high-quality manuscripts for publication in iScience.

  • Commission review articles and contribute to editorial strategy.

  • Represent iScience and Cell Press at scientific conferences and institutional visits.

  • Collaborate with internal editorial teams and academic boards to ensure quality, transparency, and impact of published research.


Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Life Sciences, with research experience in Neuroscience or Cell Biology.

  • Post-doctoral experience is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis is an advantage.

  • Broad scientific curiosity with the ability to critically assess research across diverse topics.

  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Willingness to collaborate across geographies and time zones; travel as required.
