Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform coding of medical records to index medical information for hospital, regional, and government planning, ensuring accurate hospital reimbursement.
  • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes accurately, maintaining a minimum of 95% accuracy in choice and sequencing.
  • Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately.
  • Meet departmental productivity standards for coding and entering inpatient and/or outpatient records.
  • Participate in coding meetings and educational conferences to maintain coding skills and ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate time management skills to meet deadlines and minimize non-essential interruptions.
  • Attend conference calls to provide relevant information regarding coding.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working additional hours or adjusting work schedules when necessary.
  • Establish cooperative working relationships with departmental and hospital staff.
  • Comply with employment contracts, company policies, and directives, including work location changes, shift adjustments, and alternative work arrangements as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate with a certified fresher or experience in medical coding or any related field.
  • Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA.
  • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC (any one).
  • Valid certification identification number must be provided during the interview or offer process.
