Job Summary:

The Associate Medical Coder plays a vital role in coding medical records to facilitate hospital reimbursement and accurate medical data indexing. This position supports both inpatient and outpatient services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and code inpatient and/or outpatient medical records daily

  • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes with at least 95% accuracy, following departmental coding guidelines

  • Identify and abstract medical records accurately

  • Meet productivity standards for coding and data entry

  • Demonstrate time management and reduce non-essential work interruptions

  • Participate in coding meetings and ongoing training sessions

  • Show flexibility with work schedules as needed

  • Understand how the role impacts departmental and hospital goals

  • Build cooperative working relationships with internal teams and hospital staff

  • Participate in conference calls regarding coding updates or discussions


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any discipline

  • Certified fresher or professional with 0 to 1 year of experience in medical coding (G23 level)

  • Must hold a valid and current coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC

  • Proof of certification, including ID number, must be provided during interview or offer stage
