Position Overview

The Associate II – Scientific Education will support Alcon’s Phaco Development Program, facilitating the transition of surgeons from Extracapsular Cataract Extraction (ECCE) and Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS) to Phacoemulsification (Phaco). The role combines clinical instruction, program support, data analytics, and operational excellence, ensuring high-quality surgical outcomes and effective trainee development.

This position welcomes fresher candidates with a scientific or healthcare background who are motivated to contribute to clinical education and training initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Training & Education

  • Conduct on-site trainee and hospital assessments to ensure quality and quantity targets.

  • Provide Operating Room (OR) and wetlab instruction for surgeons transitioning to Phaco.

  • Collaborate with external consultants to maximize trainee Phaco conversion rates.

  • Demonstrate product and procedural expertise to train, model, and coach trainees and field staff.

  • Support Alcon training events, professional congresses, symposiums, and special programs.

Program Documentation & Analytics

  • Document pre-course preparation, surgical observations, and post-course Phaco cases.

  • Support internal stakeholders by providing data analytics and insights for decision-making.

  • Maintain knowledge repositories and assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Operational Support

  • Participate in design teams to develop promotional and educational materials.

  • Ensure quality assurance, accuracy, and timely delivery of all projects.

  • Collaborate with Global Business Services (GBS GCO) on various operational initiatives.

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

  • Follow GxP regulations and internal SOPs rigorously.

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation, supporting organizational compliance.

  • Complete all required training and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


Candidate Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, medical, or healthcare-related field. Advanced degrees preferred.

Experience:

  • Fresher candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • Exposure to clinical training, ophthalmic procedures, or surgical education is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail and proficiency in documentation and reporting.

  • Analytical mindset to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external consultants.
