Position Summary:

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) focused on Oncology (GI, GU, Thoracic) in Southern California, you will act as a field-based medical expert, engaging with Scientific Experts (SEs), educators, and researchers. Your key objective is to facilitate high-level scientific exchange, support clinical research, and serve as a critical conduit of insights between the external scientific community and internal Lilly teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • External Engagement (70–80%)

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with SEs, investigators, and academic leaders.

    • Provide expert scientific information on Lilly’s and competitors’ oncology portfolios.

    • Facilitate collaboration between SEs and internal teams (e.g., Clinical Research, Outcomes Research).

  • Scientific Expertise

    • Stay current with therapeutic advancements in GI/GU/Thoracic oncology.

    • Attend scientific congresses and engage in continuous learning.

    • Respond to inquiries using vetted medical resources and literature.

  • Insight Gathering

    • Capture key insights and trends from SE discussions to inform brand strategy and R&D.

  • Administrative Excellence

    • Ensure compliance with internal systems (Veeva, Microsoft Office, PubMed).

    • Uphold documentation standards and best practices.


Territory:

Southern California (travel up to 50–70%, includes 4–6 weekends/year)


Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2–3 years of experience OR
    Bachelor’s/Master’s in health sciences with ≥5 years of oncology/clinical experience.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.

  • No visa sponsorship offered for this role.


Preferred Skills:

  • Clinical or MSL experience in GI/GU/Thoracic oncology

  • Based in or near Southern California with proximity to a major airport

  • Strong scientific communication and literature evaluation skills

  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships

  • Prior field-based MSL experience or academic/medical education involvement


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $145,500 – $213,400
