Compensation:
The anticipated wage for this position is $145,500 - $213,400. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.

Purpose:

Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) provide scientific expertise and clinical knowledge to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other scientific leaders. They facilitate scientific exchange and deliver insights that shape Lilly's research, development, and commercialization strategies. This position focuses on interactions with scientific and clinical experts (SEs/CEs) in South Los Angeles and Orange County.

Primary Responsibilities:

Scientific & Clinical Knowledge:

  • Provide HCPs with accurate and cutting-edge scientific information addressing clinical care gaps and nuanced clinical questions.

  • Continuously update knowledge on products, disease states, and therapeutic areas (TAs) through ongoing research and education.

  • Act as a trusted resource for unbiased, up-to-date medical and scientific information.

SE/CE Support:

  • Engage with SEs/CEs through emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and an understanding of HCP needs.

  • Collaborate with internal Lilly resources and facilitate research opportunities.

  • Partner with clinical development teams to accelerate the pipeline and evidence generation by supporting site identification and recruitment.

Field Execution and Productivity:

  • Analyze customer data, plan, and prioritize engagements through face-to-face and virtual interactions.

  • Develop and execute strategic territory plans while meeting performance expectations.

  • Ensure compliant partnerships with Lilly field roles to create a seamless HCP experience.

Strategic Vision and Leadership:

  • Communicate actionable customer insights to Lilly Medical and cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate good judgment and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Embrace change and utilize innovative resources to support evolving business needs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Scientific/Clinical Acumen:

  • Advanced degree: PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or TA experience.

  • Alternative qualifications: BSN, RPh, PA, or NP with 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in relevant therapeutic areas.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Legally authorized to be employed in the United States (Lilly does not offer sponsorship for this position).

Preferred Qualifications:

Interpersonal, Presentation, and Digital Skills:

  • Advanced presentation and computer skills, including literature identification and analysis.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and execute effectively.

  • High emotional intelligence with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

  • Resilience in managing complex challenges and intellectual curiosity in specialized fields.

Location Requirements:

  • Applicants should reside within the assigned geography (South Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County).

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including weekend commitments.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience in a field-based working environment.

  • Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, and medical research processes.

  • Proficiency with virtual engagement platforms (e.g., Zoom) and digital tools.

  • Experience in cardiometabolic health (e.g., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity) strongly preferred.
