Position Summary:
Lilly is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director – Competitive Analytics to drive strategic insights across our Research & Development (R&D) portfolio. This role is crucial for informing portfolio strategies by analyzing competitor data, industry trends, and therapeutic opportunities. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, LRL, and Business Unit partners, to deliver actionable insights that accelerate innovation and corporate initiatives such as Next Gen R&D and 3NME.

Key Responsibilities:

Competitive Analysis & Insights:

Develop and implement integrated analytical frameworks connecting multiple data sources to enhance data quality and enable robust industry trend analyses.
Generate actionable competitive intelligence by evaluating competitors’ strategies, portfolio investments, capabilities, and productivity.
Collaborate with portfolio strategy teams and stakeholders to support ongoing competitive analytics projects.
Present clear, concise, and impactful insights to scientists, project teams, and leadership using data storytelling and visualization.

Data Management & Process Optimization:

Partner with Decision Sciences and Analytics teams to monitor portfolio progress, ensuring alignment with sustainability and efficiency goals.
Own creation, integration, and maintenance of competitive intelligence systems and databases, ensuring high data integrity.
Serve as a subject matter expert for information-sharing platforms (e.g., Minerva, Penumbra, VITAL) and drive adoption of best practices.
Lead functional improvement initiatives, including process updates and analytical framework enhancements, to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health-related field, scientific, or engineering discipline (Advanced degree preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, business analytics, or competitive intelligence.
Expertise with analytics and visualization tools such as AWS, SQL, VBA, Python, R, or Power BI.
In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical industry trends, R&D processes, and scientific concepts.
Authorized to work in the United States; Lilly does not sponsor employment visas for this role.

Preferred Skills:

Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business, Finance, or IT/Computer Science.
Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and data synthesis skills.
Experience with database design, data integration, text mining, and advanced data manipulation.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for varied audiences.
Collaborative mindset with proven experience in cross-functional teamwork.

Compensation & Benefits:

Anticipated Salary: $132,000 – $193,600 (Full-time equivalent)
Eligibility for company bonus based on performance.
