Job Summary:
Amgen is hiring an Associate in Biostatistical Programming to play a key role in hands-on statistical programming, data manipulation, and report generation from large real-world healthcare datasets. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SAS and SQL, with working knowledge of R and Python being a strong advantage. You’ll collaborate with global teams and support multiple initiatives that contribute to regulatory submissions, publications, and Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and validate programs in Unix and Databricks to generate analysis datasets, tables, and figures.

  • Manipulate large healthcare databases to enable epidemiological research and RWE.

  • Lead or contribute to technical programming and process improvements.

  • Represent the programming function in cross-functional project teams.

  • Manage all programming activities in line with resource and timeline plans.

  • Ensure compliance with departmental standards, SOPs, and audit requirements.

  • Write or review programming plans, dataset specifications, macros, and utilities.

  • Participate in and respond to internal and external audits.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the CfOR (Center for Observational Research) and broader R&D.

  • Attend external professional meetings and stay current with advancements in statistical programming.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, Economics, or a related field.

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in statistical programming.

  • Proficiency in SAS and SQL.

  • Strong data validation and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to collaborate with global cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-world healthcare data (e.g., MarketScan, Optum, Medicare, Flatiron).

  • Understanding of the OMOP Common Data Model.

  • Proficiency in R and Python.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis plans and regulatory submission environments.

  • Experience in electronic health records (EHR) or insurance claims datasets.
