Purpose of the Role:

The Manager - Medical Affairs will oversee the deliverable review lifecycle, ensuring all tactics (promotional and/or medical) adhere to Lilly's quality standards, including Customer Information Quality (CIQ), Medical Content Approval (MCA), and Permission Managed Content (PMC). This role will leverage content, project, and quality management tools to improve efficiency while maintaining quality reviews and approvals. The Manager will lead process improvements, manage capacity planning for the Medical Affairs Quality LCCI Team, and provide strategic leadership in training and development for the team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Subject Matter Expert:

    • Be an expert in Lilly's procedures, processes, and tactic types (medical and marketing).
    • Have a thorough understanding of CIQ and MCA requirements and apply them in day-to-day tasks.
    • Model deep knowledge of medical and marketing lifecycle, external agency structures, and healthcare industry practices.
    • Lead investigations on deviations from the standard processes.
  2. Quality and Compliance Oversight:

    • Manage the review lifecycle of deliverables to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    • Track and measure process efficiency and ensure the effectiveness of CIQ/MCA guidelines.
    • Identify process bottlenecks and work to eliminate recurring issues.
    • Implement process updates and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure shared best practices.
    • Use data-driven insights to improve processes, create reports for leadership, and track trends.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, building a high-performance team.
    • Provide guidance, training, and development to team members.
    • Monitor employee engagement and team health, and support career development planning.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and ensure compliance with company policies.
    • Manage the workload of team members, ensuring quality and project timelines are met.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • 3+ years of experience in editing, copywriting, or proofreading in a medical or marketing context (pharmaceutical or healthcare).
    • 2+ years in a formal management role with proven leadership experience.
    • Experience in managing a strategic portfolio or business process.
    • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to collaborate, influence, and coach a team effectively.
    • Project management experience is essential.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Experience working in a regulated industry (pharma).
    • Familiarity with medical/marketing writing standards, CIQ, and MCA procedures.
    • Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and project management tools (e.g., Veeva, Adobe Experience Manager, Wrike).
    • Experience working with U.S. clients, particularly in the pharma sector.
  • Education:

    • Advanced degree such as a Master's (e.g., MBBS, MPH) or a professional degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in a medically related field.
  • Additional Preferences:

    • Experience with tools like Veeva, Global Vision, and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
    • Knowledge of budgeting and capacity resourcing.
