Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform coding of medical records to index information for hospital, regional, and government planning, and ensure accurate hospital reimbursement.

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records by identifying diagnoses and procedures daily as per unit schedule.

  • Accurately assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes following departmental guidelines with ≥95% accuracy.

  • Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately.

  • Meet departmental productivity standards for coding and record entry.

  • Demonstrate time management by meeting deadlines and minimizing interruptions.

  • Participate in coding meetings and education conferences to maintain skills.

  • Show flexibility in working additional or modified hours.

  • Understand the role’s impact on departmental and hospital performance.

  • Build cooperative working relationships with departmental and hospital staff.

  • Attend conference calls to provide coding-related information.

  • Comply with employment contract terms, company policies, and directives, including work shifts, location changes, or alternative work arrangements.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate in any discipline.

  • Certified fresher or experienced in medical coding (other experience considered).

  • Must hold a valid certification from AAPC or AHIMA.

  • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC (any one).

  • Candidates must provide proof of certification with valid ID number during the interview or offer process.
