Job Description

Department: Medical Affairs HQ BLR, GMA-BLR

This position is responsible for managing a team of global medical advisors executing Global Medical Affairs (GMA) deliverables in the Diabetes space, specifically for Insulin and GLP-1 areas. The Senior Manager will own the medical strategy and GMA activities for Diabetes-related products, including LCM products, modern and new generation insulins, and Semaglutide.


Responsibilities

People Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of Global Medical Advisors in Medical Affairs HQ BLR, GMA-BLR.

  • Set team direction, develop skills, coach, and guide team members.

  • Resource planning, prioritization, and reporting of departmental performance.

  • Manage performance, set team targets, and delegate responsibilities.

  • Drive team development by identifying and creating opportunities for growth.

  • Proactively create and maintain an engaged team culture.

Strategic Direction and GMA Deliverables:

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and credible building of scientific and medical knowledge for Diabetes products.

  • Communicate scientific data and clinical importance to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Oversee global scale activities impacting regions and affiliates.

  • Lead medical affairs input into clinical trial design, publication strategy, and clinical care pathways.

Clinical and Strategic Activities:

  • Proactively manage clinical activities, portfolio alignment, and communication strategies.

  • Provide market-oriented input to trial design, protocol development, and PDP.

  • Develop Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) strategy and oversee progress and budgets.

KOL Engagement:

  • Lead strategy, development, and execution of scientific communication during global meetings.

  • Gather and analyze feedback from Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and advisory boards.

  • Oversee development and execution of scientific content for advisory boards.

Publication and Medical Education Planning:

  • Develop and execute strategic publication plans for key data milestones.

  • Drive medical education activities, including CME and non-CME programs.

  • Ensure high-quality publications in alignment with the medical communication strategy.

Internal Medical Guidance:

  • Align cross-functional business activities and review medical content for promotional materials.

  • Provide medical support for market access negotiations and public affairs.

Independence and Decision-Making:

  • Work independently with high levels of decision-making authority.

  • Represent Global Medical Affairs in cross-functional forums, making strategic decisions.


Qualifications

  • M.D. with substantial clinical and/or research expertise in relevant fields (Endocrinology, Cardiology, General Practice, or Internal Medicine).

  • Extensive experience in diabetes mellitus research and drug development.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.

  • At least 10 years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical industry experience.

  • At least 7-8 years of leadership experience.

  • Additional education (PhD, pharma business/marketing) preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and strategic skills.
