Role Summary

The Senior Medical Copy Writer is responsible for developing high-quality, evidence-based, and compliant promotional medical content for omnichannel pharmaceutical marketing. The role blends scientific depth with creative communication to deliver impactful messaging for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients across digital, print, and multimedia platforms.

Candidates must demonstrate strong command of medical communication, regulatory awareness, and the ability to translate scientific data into clear, strategic, and engaging content.


Key Responsibilities

Content Development and Strategy

  • Create scientifically accurate, engaging promotional content tailored for HCP and patient audiences.

  • Develop content for websites, digital campaigns, eDetailers, webinars, social media, print collateral, and video scripts.

  • Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, persuasive messaging aligned with brand objectives.

  • Ensure content consistency with medical positioning and omnichannel marketing strategies.

Omnichannel and Digital Marketing

  • Produce SEO-optimized medical content for digital assets including websites, blogs, and educational portals.

  • Collaborate with marketing, design, and digital teams to develop content for eDetailing platforms, mobile applications, AI-enabled tools, and virtual engagement channels.

  • Support development of personalized content journeys based on segmentation and user behavior insights.

Compliance and Scientific Accuracy

  • Ensure content meets regulatory and promotional compliance guidelines (FDA, EMA, PhRMA, and global standards).

  • Work closely with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) teams during review and approval processes.

  • Maintain accuracy in referencing scientific literature, real-world evidence, and clinical practice guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Brand Management, and Sales teams to ensure alignment of scientific messaging with commercial goals.

  • Partner with design, UX, and digital marketing teams to enhance the scientific and visual effectiveness of deliverables.

Content Optimization and Performance

  • Track content engagement metrics and refine content strategies based on performance insights.

  • Update scientific content based on emerging clinical data, competitive intelligence, and stakeholder feedback.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, or Journalism with medical writing specialization.

  • Advanced degrees such as PhD, PharmD, or MD are preferred but not mandatory.

Experience (Mandatory)

  • 3–5+ years of experience in medical copywriting, promotional medical content development, healthcare advertising, or pharmaceutical communication.

  • Experience developing HCP and patient-focused content for omnichannel marketing is required.

  • Exposure to therapeutic areas such as cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, immunology, or rare diseases is an advantage.

  • Experience working with US/EU markets and familiarity with their promotional approval processes is preferred.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Strong understanding of clinical research, medical terminology, and scientific communication principles.

  • Proficiency in English writing and communication.

  • Ability to simplify complex medical concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with SEO, UX writing, social media content, and email marketing.

  • Experience using CMS platforms, CRM systems (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce), and analytics tools.

  • Strong project management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and collaborative mindset.


Good to Have

  • Multichannel campaign experience.

  • Knowledge of global regulatory standards for promotional materials.

  • Ability to conceptualize creative scientific storytelling.
