Position Overview

The Medical Writer collaborates closely with the Medical Director or Account Lead to develop, review, and manage scientific content for assigned accounts. Deliverables span multiple formats, including newsletters, scientific articles, executive summaries, slide presentations, eLearning modules, and digital assets.

This role requires strong scientific understanding, strategic thinking, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with precision and professionalism. The Medical Writer is expected to lead assigned projects, handle client communications when appropriate, and contribute to strategic recommendations aligned with brand objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit scientific and medical content across print and digital platforms

  • Collaborate with the Medical Services Team to support strategic planning and meet key deliverable timelines

  • Lead the development of assigned projects with guidance from the Medical Director or Account Lead

  • Conduct literature research, verify data accuracy, and secure credible references

  • Proofread and annotate documents according to internal, client, and AMA style guidelines

  • Support client regulatory submissions and participate in medical, legal, and regulatory review processes when required

  • Partner with account and medical teams to strengthen client relationships

  • Demonstrate creative and analytical thinking to address project challenges

  • Provide onsite support at meetings, conferences, advisory boards, or client events as needed

  • Stay updated on scientific trends, terminology, and industry standards

  • Maintain professionalism, adaptability, and a strong commitment to client success


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, nursing, biosciences, or a related field preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience will also be considered

  • 2–3 years of experience in medical writing or clinical content development, ideally within a medical communications agency

  • Proven experience developing scientific materials such as promotional slide decks, unbranded and branded content, advisory board materials, core claims documents, and eLearning content

  • Strong command of medical terminology and scientific writing standards

  • High attention to detail with exceptional proofreading and annotation skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 15–25%)

  • Remote work capability, with potential onsite expectations for the Yardley office
