Role Overview

The Director, Business Development is responsible for positioning and selling Red Nucleus’ full suite of learning, development, and medical communications solutions to key decision-makers in pharmaceutical and biotech organizations. Target functions include Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and R&D leadership.

This role is ideal for a strategic seller who excels in consultative engagement, solution development, and relationship growth across complex life sciences accounts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and engage key pharmaceutical decision-makers and influencers

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities and expand existing accounts

  • Develop Strategic Account Development Plans to guide growth and engagement

  • Build strong, strategic, multi-level client relationships

  • Collaborate with internal delivery teams to design tailored solutions

  • Lead proposal development, presentations, and SOW creation

  • Manage the sales pipeline through Red Nucleus’ opportunity management framework

  • Lead pricing negotiations and ensure profitability standards are met

  • Facilitate seamless hand-off from sales to delivery teams

  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across Red Nucleus business units

  • Contribute to marketing initiatives and represent the company at key industry conferences

Required Experience & Qualifications

Experience Level

  • 7–10 years of proven experience selling Learning & Development or Medical Communications services to pharmaceutical clients (Director level)

  • 10+ years of experience for Senior Director consideration

  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve annual quotas of USD 3M+

  • Strong background in consultative selling within life sciences

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Advanced degrees preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Track record of breaking into new accounts and expanding existing relationships

  • Ability to develop large-scale, strategic partnerships across functional areas

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

  • Deep understanding of pharma industry trends, learning needs, and scientific communications

  • Proficiency in Salesforce for pipeline management preferred

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

  • Understanding of drug development timelines as they relate to service offerings
